Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at Truman Elementary. We currently have 273 students enrolled in grades K-4. As a staff, we model and teach our students to interact with others with kindness and respect. Our mission is to challenge each student to reach their full potential and to be well prepared for success in the 21st century as they leave Truman Elementary and continue on their educational journey through Sweetwater School District #2.
Truman Elementary will continue to develop as a Professional Learning Community. Our students did an "outstanding" job with the state PAWS testing last spring. Their scores are "testament" to the amount of focused effort and hard work on the part of our students, parents, and staff. We will continue to collaborate and to use information gathered through data tracking to teach our students more effectively and we are looking forward to another wonderful year of academic growth for our Truman students.
Tuman is a positive environment where every child is expected to Be Kind, to Be Respectful, and to Be Responsible. We teach our students specific behavior expectations that show them how to be respectful, kind, and responsible in certain areas of the school such as: classroom, lunchroom, bathroom, hallway, playground, and assemblies. We also have a "zero tolerance" policy for bullying and we will continue to implement our anti-bullying program. Please feel free to call me if issues arise because early parent and student input is so important to helping us maintain a positive and safe climate for Truman students.
Truman Mission Statement

Truman Vision Statement

School Improvement Goals
1. 85% of students will reach grade level proficiency by improving their reading comprehension and demonstrating an accurate understanding of grade level texts, beyond the literal level as measured by the DIBELS, MAP, or PAWS assessment.
2. 85% of all students will reach grade level proficiency by using the writing process and appropriate strategies to write a variety of narrative and expository pieces as measured by PAWS or Common Assessments.
I have an open door policy, so please come by and see me if you have any questions or concerns regarding Truman Elementary School. I am very excited to be part of the Truman family, and can not wait to see the difference that we can make in each and every child who attends Truman Elementary. Welcome to our our school!
