Welcome and thank you for visiting Sweetwater County School District No. 2 web site. Our public schools are the heart of our community and we employ very talented and student-oriented teachers, administrators and staff. They are all committed to making our entire District the best that it can be, and look forward to working with both the parents and students who enter our doors.

The District comprises an area of 5,250 square miles and is located in Green River, which has a population of approximately 14,000. The District offers a comprehensive educational program for grades kindergarten through 12th and is both North Central Association and Wyoming State board of Education accredited.

The District operates Green River High School (grades 9-12), Expedition Academy Alternative High School (grades 10-12), Lincoln Middle School (grades 7-8), and Monroe Intermediate School (grades 5-6). The District also maintains four elementary schools within the city limits (Harrison, Jackson, Truman and Washington) and three rural schools (Granger, McKinnon and Thoman Ranch). The total enrollment as of the end of the 2008-2009 school year was 2,613.

Green River's population is approximately 14,000. Trona mining, natural gas production and the railroad are still the major employers in the area. The area is constantly changing with the introduction of new businesses and the community works hard at maintaining its timeless and peaceful setting.

We invite you to browse our website to view the various events, programs and activities that the District has to offer students. For more information and answers to questions, please call the District's Central Office at 307-872-5500.
